July 9th, 2007Fan resistor replacement
April 7th, 2007The blower fan in my 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT stopped working. Since i bought it, settings 1 - 4 have not worked. Monday, setting 5 stopped working. I checked all the fuses and relays. The Pontiac dealership said to replace the blower fan assembly resistor. Google sent me here:

I spent 2 hours upside down under the dash on the passenger side removing the old resistor. Napa Auto Parts sold me the replacement part for $31.02. I installed the new resistor and presto, my fan works again on all settings, 1 through 5. I love google.
Oscar
February 24th, 2007I woke up today and peaked outside to find we were in the middle of a decent ice/snow storm. Because the broken-down Mazda is stuck in the garage, my car now has 4 inches of ice to be scraped from the windshield.
So, I worked around the house, made a killer batch of chili, and played with my new kitten named “Oscar”, who has made it clear to Shadow he is taking over the role head-of-household.
(Yes, now I have 2 all-black cats.)
I got a new car!
February 5th, 2007The Mazda broke down RIP. -40 degrees windchill, thank god i have a garage. After determining the ignition coil was not putting out a spark, I swapped it out with a new one from Napa. Started right up, drove around the block, parked, shut it off, tried to turn it over and it wouldn’t start back up. Checked the ignition coil again and found it was fried.
Continue dumping cash into a heap-o-junk, or look elsewhere for wheels… A friend came to my rescue and sold me his ‘99 Pontiac Grand Prix GT! 90k mileage, power-everything, sunroof, 2-door, ABS, SRS, etc, etc.
Stress is relieved.
home equity
August 15th, 2006Today, 8/15, the house is mine. Papers are signed and the house officially belongs to me now. Re-financing under a 30-year fixed cut my monthly payments in half (not to mention the cash in pocket). Today is a good day.
